Since their glory days in the Alex Ferguson era, Manchester United has struggled to settle on one manager. Although some big names have been at the wheel, it is hard to say that they pleased United fans. After Sir Alex Ferguson left, David Moyes was appointed as Ferguson wanted Moyes, who was a fellow Scottish manager, to replace him. However, Moyes’ spell at United was a disaster and he was sacked after a single season. Then came Louis Van Gaal who Manchester United fans absolutely despised. After impactful games like losing to Sunderland at Old Trafford, Van Gaal’s spell at United was also a failure. At the start of the 16-17 premier league season, Jose Mourinho is presented as the new United manager. Although he won the Europa League during his time, Mourinho’s constant tension with players like Paul Pogba and Luke Shaw rose to the surface, playing a big part in ending his two-year spell at United. Then came Solskjaer, the former Manchester United legend who had been building his managerial career with his successful spell at Norwegian club Molde. He had a successful start to his Manchester United career as a manager, with the star signing of Bruno Fernandes during the winter transfer window of 2019. However, Solskjaer’s lack of tactical points and ability to get the best out of his players has resulted in United fans demanding him sacked, despite him being a legend at the club. While there were rumors that the club would consider the sack based on his performance across the span of games against Tottenham, Atlanta, and Manchester City. Recording 1 win, 1 draw, and 1 loss respectively, Solskjaer seems to have saved his job, leaving Manchester United fans enraged. Conte, who was one of the candidates that could take over the United job, being appointed to Tottenham, has left Manchester United in a weird situation with no particular candidate to replace Solskjaer at the moment.
